July 30, 2017- A picture taken on the day we registered for the 41st Milo marathon at Toby's Shangri-la Plaza with le tropapips, Ma'am Castor, Ma'am Bornales, Ma'am Gambito and her hubby Sir Gambito (who took this picture).
But to tell you the truth, I got more excited to see rollerskates and bicycles lined up for sale at toby's than registering for the Marathon. Haha
This got me thinking, though. I never really cared what the marathon's cause is. I just often thought before that I needed to join because it's an added point for my IPCRF Community Service rating. So today, decided to research about it.
Apparently, Milo has been doing this event since the year 1974. The Winners, one male and female crowned as Milo Marathon King and Queen, are granted the privilege to represent our country in top international marathon events.
Aside from that, they also donate to Help Give Shoes Advocacy to underprivileged young runners who wish to achieve their dreams.
But for me, the biggest contribution of the said event is to inspire people from different walks of life to take on the challege and show how resilient Filipinos are when it comes to reaching their goals by joining the event.
Milo did not only help the athletes but also those who joined their cause, one way or another.
I hope today's 41st Milo Marathon has inspired a lot more Filipinos.
