Let's start our Second Year with volunteer work. 🫶
A few weeks ago, Julio Sempai invited me to join a Treasure Hunt Event hosted by his former JTEs and a Veteran ALT in Sendai. Since I have nothing else to do and nowhere else to go anyway this Summer, I said "Yes, I'd love to!"
Most of the JET volunteers are only available on Sunday so I convinced Akhe to come and join me for the Saturday Event. 😂 It's a bonus that Liz, a fellow Batch A Sendai JET from Australia, also joined at a later date, so we got to catch up with one another after a long time!
The kids had to solve puzzles and answer our questions to get a stamp and a gold coin from three stations. Once they have collected them, they can exchange these coins and stamps with a treasure (prize).
When there were not that many kids comin' in, we got to be silly and take pictures. hoho. They also let us try the VR game station next to the English Town Treasure Hunt station.
It was a lot of fun. I hope I get to join another event like this next time. 🫶
