June 24, 2014. We officially started the Reading Enhancement and Development Program for Grade 7 students.  Originally, Teachers of English 7 recommended 25 students participating in the R.E.A.D Program. I invited the students, as well as their parents and guardians, to the opening ceremony. We discussed what the program is about and what benefits the kids will get from attending it.  Most of the selected students were struggling readers, and there were just a few non-readers.

Selected students from the pilot section, 7-Charity, were assigned different tasks throughout the program.

Our English Department Head delivered a speech and a word of encouragement to the students and parents during the opening.

It was already the second year of implementation of the READ Program. And although we were able to help improve struggling readers, there were still some issues that had to be addressed.

This year, we hope to launch another READ Program to help the incoming struggling readers.
