A library without a librarian is an empty shell.
How very true this quotation is. In our school, the library isn't functional. This is because we don't have librarians. What we have are teacher-librarians which is definitely not the same. Teacher-librarians main task is still teaching and library work is only given as an extra job. Because of this, the library isn't always available to use.
Most of the time it is closed, since the teacher has to go to his/her classes. Last school year, I was assigned to the English Room. However, since the room will be used for Contact Center Services for Senior High, we were asked to vacate the room. That left me no choice but to stay in the library on the morning since there wasn't really a librarian assigned in the morning.
It was very dusty and dirty, I asked my students to clean the library and we also had classes there from time to time. It was hard always having to clean it every day because of the dust but there wasnt any choice. The library isn't air conditioned so we have to open the windows to get some air in, which made it more dusty with thewindows wide open. Another thing is the tables and chairs.
They said that it used to be a Science Laboratory. The tables and chairs are left behind to be used for the library. They are very heavy and difficult to maneuver. They are also quite big and take a lot of space.
I wish the school would renovate and redesign our library so the students can use it for their studies and homework. It's high time the library be given a make over.
